The Directorate General of Military Industry presented to the public at the latest edition of Famex 2023 some of its most outstanding developments in rifles, submachine guns, grenade launchers, and ballistic elements.
The first is the technological development project of the 360-degree rotating turret with a low moment of inertia, with ballistic protection for 7.62 caliber projectiles.
It is currently under technological surveillance for registration before the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property.
The second presentation was a 40-millimeter low-velocity grenade launcher, a project already registered with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property.
This development aims to have a national model of grenade launcher that can be used individually and as an accessory for the FX-05 rifle and the Heckler & Koch G3 rifle.
The next novelty presented at Famex 2023 was a prototype of the Xiuhcoatl 50 caliber precision rifle, which will make it possible to evaluate and determine its serial production’s technical and economic feasibility at the General Directorate of Military Industry.
Another test prototype of a 7.62 caliber light machine gun with anthropomorphic characteristics of the Mexican soldier was also on display.
The last design presented was the 5.56 caliber rotary machine gun for ground vehicles, the AGX-16, which is already in its second phase.
The objective is to have a rotary machine gun that adjusts the fire rate according to the aggression it faces.
It includes a firing and control system with cadence and a belt cartridge feeding system with a reflex sight.
The General Directorate of Military Industry is an important agency of the Ministry of National Defense, which manages the industrial complex that produces ammunition, weapons, and tactical vehicles for the Mexican Army and Air Force, satisfying the needs of the troops so that they are properly equipped to carry out their missions.
