Flamengo Nets Over R$16 Million by Finishing Second in Club World Cup

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Despite the sorrow of finishing second in the championship, after losing 1-0 to Liverpool, Flamengo fattened up their coffers somewhat, crowning an excellent season in both financial terms and results on the field.

Second place in the FIFA Club World Cup earned the red-and-blacks an additional R$16.8 million, totaling nearly R$150 (US$37) million in awards this year alone.

For the Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship titles, the red-and-blacks received from the CONMEBOL, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and sponsors approximately R$127.3 million.
