Paraguay: ex-president Horacio Cartes denounced for illicit enrichment and money laundering

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Minister Giuzzio said that the complaint is some 30 pages long and that he decided not to submit it to the Prosecutor's Office in order to expedite the investigation, given that the SEPRELAD has the "financial intelligence" to conduct the inquiries both locally and internationally.

According to the Minister, the investigation showed that Cartes' wealth grew "disproportionately" between 2013 and 2018, a period that coincides with his presidential term.

"A sum of approximately US$300 million dollars was found", he said, and added that there is talk of false testimony since the ex-president made . . .
