Inflation reaches 12.73% in Brazilian capitals in 2021: the ranking

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Inflation exceeded 10% in 10 of the 16 capitals and metropolitan regions surveyed in 2021 by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics).

Curitiba (Paraná) was the city with the highest variation in the IPCA (Extended National Consumer Price Index): 12.73%.

According to the IBGE's report, released on Tuesday, January 11, Curitiba's result was driven by the 51.78% increase in gasoline prices. In 2020, the city registered an IPCA of 3.95%.
