RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The 2021/22 Brazilian coffee harvest reached 89% of planted area on Tuesday, representing an increase of 5 percentage points over the previous week and pushing the work toward completion, said Safras & Mercado consultants on Wednesday.

The pace of harvest is slightly behind the same period last year, when it reached 90% of the 5-year historical average for this time, Safras added.

Considering the consultancy's projection for the country's 2021/22 coffee crop, 56.5 million 60-kg bags, the harvest has now reached 50.45 million bags.
