Bolsonaro decrees program to offer broadband service in Brazil’s Amazon

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - President Jair Bolsonaro issued a decree creating a program aimed at offering good quality broadband services to the Amazon region, in compliance with demands made by the Federal Audit Court (TCU) and ahead of the 5G auction tender notice.

The Integrated and Sustainable Amazon Program (PAIS) aims to deploy a high-capacity fiber optic transport network along the Amazon region's rivers and metropolitan areas in the municipalities connected to the transport network, according to the General Secretariat of the Presidency.

The deployed networks will allow connecting public establishments such as teaching institutions, health care units . . .
