Brazil government will not extend higher electricity tariffs due to rains

Minister of Mines and Energy Bento Albuquerque spoke about the water scarcity flag set by the government in August 2021.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Bento Albuquerque, said there will be no extension of the electricity tariff exceptionally created due to the water shortage and set to end in April.

"It's over, it's really over. Just as they asked me in the past if we were working with the possibility of rationing and blackouts, and I said we weren't, if you ask me now about the water shortage tariff, I tell you that we are not planning to extend it because of the measures we have adopted," he said.
