Opinion: Seven presidents in six and a half years, coup attempt – political instability plagues Peru

(Opinion) Peru experienced a Wednesday that laid bare the country's political instability, with an attempted coup by then-President Pedro Castillo, his removal from office by the national Congress afterward, and then his imprisonment.

Upon being sworn in in the afternoon, Dina Boluarte became Peru's seventh president in six and a half years.
