Here’s how art students can nurture their creativity

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Studying art is not all fun and games. Just like with every other field that requires creativity, you will experience a block at times and feel like you’re not creative enough for the task that you have to complete.

This happens mainly because people believe that creativity is a gift one receives at birth.
That’s a rather wrong and negative assumption, to say the least. Creativity is built up and
must be constantly nurtured. Even if you work very hard, the chances that you can say you are always creative are very slim.

Therefore, if you suffer from a lack or loss of creativity and are studying art, here’s how
you can nurture and grow your talent!

USE PROMPTS

Believe it or not, prompts work for almost everything that requires creativity. Writer’s
block? Some prompts will solve it. A marketing manager with no ideas for future
marketing plans? That’s right, a couple of prompts will probably get them back on track.

As such, regardless of what your particular field of art deals with, try to incorporate
prompts into it. Usually, working at something that comes from the outside feels much
easier than working on a personal or internal project that you want to be perfect. So get
the juices flowing!

CALMING SUBSTANCES

Creative blocks are often accompanied by anxiety – or even the other way around.
Anxiety can be taken out of the picture entirely if we learn to rely on calming substances.
These can be something as small as a smell that you like (orange peels, for example) or
essential oils, refreshing drinks, and CBD (canabidiol).

As it can be seen on this website, there are a lot of different CBD products that come
with different results. One of those might be just what you need to deal with your
creative block.

ART CHALLENGES AND CHOICES

Give yourself some art challenges, but don’t make them too restrictive. Challenge
yourself to complete one of your art projects, but add a second choice that allows you to
complete another project or task of the same magnitude.

Challenges are known to not only spark but also boost creativity. After all, look at
science competitions. The people taking part in them would probably never have had the
crazy ideas they present without the spirit of competition running wild.

PROMOTE AND ENGAGE  IN CURIOUS ACTIVITY

Artists often prefer to never leave their personal, comfortable space. This means that, in
time, they lose their spirit of curiosity, and end up being known for a single creative
style, message, and so on.

Those artists are the ones that afraid to experiment and let their curiosity run loose. If
there’s a new creative concept or idea that catches your eye, don’t let it go unless you
grasp at least half of what it has to say to you.

THE BOTTOM LINE

As you can see, nurturing creativity is based a lot on leaving your comfort zone and
trying certain new things that are fit for an artist – and for an artist’s lifestyle. Naturally,
it goes without saying that the myths behind alcohol and drugs are far from real.
You can only grow as an artist if you nurture your creativity with healthy methods.
Anything but that will waste your potential.
