More than 100 parliamentarians denounced an international in a letter plan to destabilize Peru

More than a hundred parliamentarians from 14 Ibero-American and European nations have sent through Foro Madrid a letter to the secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, through which they denounce “a destabilization process” promoted from abroad against Peru.

“It is evident the leading role of the controversial Evo Morales in the vandalic protests that are being carried out from the southeast of the country towards Lima, intending to overthrow the constitutional government of Dina Boluarte“, the letter states.

Thus, the parliamentarians consider serious “the behavior of supposedly democratic governments – such as those of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, and Mexico – implicitly supporting this destabilization by falsely affirming that “Pedro Castillo was the victim of a coup d’état”.

“It is public and notorious that the now former president wanted to dissolve the Congress to perpetuate himself in power”, it adds.

In the letter, the Madrid Forum condemns the “double standards” of some OAS member governments, for whom “certain protests are bad when they affect their allies (as in the case of Brazil); and others are good because they serve to overthrow their ideological adversaries (as in the case of Peru)”.

And it points out that this double standard “constitutes a serious threat to our democratic systems and a risk for the peace and stability of our continent”.

The letter is signed by deputies and senators from Argentina, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Honduras, Hungary, Italy, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, and Uruguay.

Thus, the signatures of the Argentinean presidential candidate Javier Milei, the Polish MEP Ryszard Antoni Legutko, the Hungarian MEP Eniko Gyori or the MEP and member of the Fratelli dItalia party, Carlo Fidanza stand out.

The president of VOX, Santiago Abascal, has adhered to the letter along with Hermann Tertsch MEP and VOX spokesperson in the Assembly of Madrid, Rocio Monasterio.

The entire National Party of Honduras bench and 31 Peruvian deputies from six different benches have also signed the letter.
