Supreme Court Justice Moraes toughens penalties for protesters and seizes trucks in Brazil's Mato Grosso state

At the request of the Public Ministry of Mato Grosso,  Justice Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) ordered the seizure of 177 trucks that would have participated in pro-military intervention acts in protests against the results of the presidential election in Cuiabá, Mato Grosso's capital city.

The decision also determined the removal of the mayor of Tapurah, Carlos Alberto Capeletti (PSD).

Moraes also determined fines of R$100,000 (US$19,000) per truck for the respective owners . . .
