Peruvian production grows 2.70% between January and November 2022

Peruvian production registered a growth of 2.70 percent between January and November 2022.

In the annualized period from December 2021 to the penultimate month of last year, the advance was 2.63 percent, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) reported today, Sunday.

In its technical report National Production, INEI indicated that in November last year, economic activity increased by 1.68 percent compared to the same month of 2021, which is explained by the positive performance of most economic sectors.

The sectors that did not contribute to this positive performance were fishing, manufacturing, telecommunications, and finance.

The INEI detailed that transport, storage, and messaging increased by 7.51 percent, thanks to the performance of air (32.14 percent) and land transport (7.40 percent).

Electricity, gas, and water increased by 5.65 percent, supported by higher production in the water sector (0.91 percent) and gas distribution (0.52 percent).

Meanwhile, mining and hydrocarbons expanded 5.06 percent, driven by the excellent performance of metallic mining activity (5.90 percent), associated with higher volumes of copper (14.6 percent), tin (9.1 percent), iron (6.2 percent) and zinc (1.2 percent).

At the same time, silver production was affected with a 10.2 percent drop, lead with a 6.8 percent drop, and gold with a 2.9 percent decrease.

Hydrocarbon production increased by 0.15 percent due to higher natural gas exploitation (11.5 percent).

However, this was mitigated by lower natural gas extraction, which fell 7.2 percent, and crude oil, which fell by 0.1 percent.

Production in agriculture and livestock, construction, commerce, lodging and restaurants, and government services also grew.

The institution specified in its report that in November of last year, fishing decreased, with a reduction of 48.52 percent due to the lower extraction of marine species, which fell by 50.27 percent.

Fishing for direct human consumption decreased by 15.63 percent, with a decrease in fishing for the preparation of cured, frozen, canned, and fresh consumption.

According to INEI, production in the financial and insurance sector also declined, with a 9.62 percent drop, while telecommunications and other information services had a 5.71 percent reduction.
