Analysis: Mexico’s fastest-rising cartel is taking over the country fighting medieval-style battles

Mexico’s fastest-rising cartel, the Jalisco New Generation gang, has a reputation for ruthlessness and violence unlike any since the fall of the old Zetas cartel.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Ten men and a boy were killed and a woman and another boy were wounded in a shooting attack on a home in western Mexico Saturday, February 27th.

Prosecutors in the state of Jalisco said the bullet-ridden bodies of the 10 men were found by police on the sidewalk in front of the home. The body of a boy was found inside, and a woman and another boy were located at a local hospital.

The prosecutors’ office said the attack was carried out by unidentified assailants traveling in an SUV.
