Machu Picchu in Peru will reopen to tourists on March 1st

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu —Peru's main tourist attraction— will reopen to tourists starting Monday, March 1st, Cusco Region Governor Jean Paul Benavente confirmed on Thursday, February 25th.

Benavente welcomed the Government measures, which authorize the reactivation of activities such as visits to museums and archaeological sites.

The regional authority affirmed that the implementation of these measures was coordinated with the Executive Branch, adding that they will help reactivate Cusco's economy and tourism sector —one of the most affected due to suspended visits to Machu Picchu and archaeological sites during the second wave . . .
