According to the monthly trade report, which includes data up to last May, more than 780 national products and services recorded record shipments, such as lithium sulfates, multilayer cardboard, frozen horse mackerel, canned mussels, oat grains, chascón seaweed and frozen asparagus, among others.

Meanwhile, the number of companies with international sales rose to 5,857, reaching pre-pandemic levels for the first time, driven by manufacturing and services.

Chile’s trade exchange amounted to US$78.092 billion during the first five months of the year, leaving a positive balance of US$9.684 billion in the South American country’s trade balance.

The Undersecretary of the Subrei, Claudia Sanhueza, affirmed that these data show “a recovery of the economy through our exports” and “the advances in the diversification of our export basket”, with a value-added offer, said the official.

Regarding the destinations of Chilean exports, Asia remained the largest recipient of local supply (56.4 percent of the total), with operations for US$ 24,685 million.

It is followed by North America (18.7%) and Latin America (12.4%).
