Relatives of Nicaraguan dissident sentenced to long prison terms

The regime of Daniel Ortega sentenced on Thursday to long sentences three relatives of dissident Javier Alvarez, a political persecuted of the regime.

This is the first sentence issued by the Sandinista justice system against relatives of an opponent of the Nicaraguan regime.

Alvarez's wife, Jeannine Horvilleur, 63 years old, received an 8-year prison sentence.

The same sentence was imposed on their daughter, Ana Carolina Álvarez.
