Bolivia’s revenues from sale of gas and derivatives increased 27.2% in 2022

Consolidated operating revenues from the sale of natural gas and its derivatives increased in Bolivia by 27.2 percent in 2022, state-owned Yacimientos Petrolíferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) reported yesterday, Thursday.

“More than 6,314 million dollars are the consolidated income from the sale of all the products we have as YPFB in the 2022 management, the value that represents a significantly higher income of 27.2 percent,” said the president of the entity, Armin Dorgathen, in the annual rendering of accounts.

According to a press release issued by the state-owned oil company, the improvement in the efficiency of operations made it possible to generate extraordinary resources in relation to 2021, a period in which a total income of 4,965.5 million dollars was recorded.

The favorable scenario was contributed to by the achievements reached in negotiating natural gas export contracts with neighboring countries and the increase in urea exports (gas-derived fertilizer), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and isopentane-rich gasoline.

“Since 2016, we have never seen an amount of this magnitude, which shows us that the work done to reach this value is due to the efforts made since the end of 2020,” said the executive.

The natural gas surplus and its by-products were exported to different regional markets: natural gas to Brazil and Argentina; urea to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay; and LPG to Brazil, Paraguay, and Peru.

Since October 2016, the official statement highlighted, isopentane has been exported to Brazil, Peru, and other countries.
