Covid-19: Rio de Janeiro Tops São Paulo in Hospitalizations for First Time

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Over three days, December 18th, 19th and 20th, the D'Or Hospital network, the largest in Brazil, recorded more hospitalizations for Covid-19 in Rio de Janeiro than in São Paulo.

It is the first time that this has happened in the pandemic. São Paulo has a population of 12.3 million, while Rio has a little over half of this: 6.3 million inhabitants.

On December 18th, Rio registered 586 hospitalizations, while São Paulo counted 588. On December 19th, there were 567 hospitalizations in Rio against 522 in São Paulo. December . . .
