Covid-19: Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro reaches 99% of adult population with one vaccine dose

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Eight months after the first vaccine against Covid-19 was administered in a ceremony at Christ the Redeemer, the city of Rio de Janeiro on Monday, September 20, reached the mark of 99% of the adult population immunized with the first dose against the novel coronavirus.

In total, over 8.6 million vaccines against Covid-19 were administered in the municipality of Rio, 5.3 million of which were first doses. In the capital, almost 62% of adults have completed their vaccination schedule with either 2 doses or single-dose.
