The Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant, shared between Paraguay and Brazil, reached this Tuesday 2,900 million megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy generated since the beginning of its operations in May 1984, informed the right bank Binational Entity (Paraguayan side).
This is a historical milestone as no other hydroelectric power plant has been able to generate it.
This new milestone for the binational enterprise, a world leader in the generation of clean and renewable energy, reinforces the strategic importance of the hydroelectric power plant for the sustainable development and energy security of the two co-owning countries.
