IBGE reduces estimate for Brazil’s 2021 record grain harvest by 1.6%

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - The Brazilian grain harvest in 2021 is expected to reach 258.5 million tons, 1.7% higher than last year, or the equivalent to 4.4 million tons, informed the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in its new Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA), announced on Thursday (8). Compared to last month's estimate, there was a drop of 1.6% (4.2 million tons).

According to the IBGE, the production of soybeans should grow 9.7%, with a record 133.3 million tons. The production of rice, in turn, was estimated at 11 . . .
