Delta variant leads Brazil government to step up vaccination along country borders

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - In the coming weeks, border cities will have enhanced vaccination against Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health, the measure is a way to control the spread of the Delta variant. In all, 10 states in Brazil have registered infections by the mutation.

"We are very concerned with the circulation of the Delta variant. We are focused on vaccination of border areas to lower the risks," the secretary said. Despite the alert, she did not disclose further details.
