Brazil wins nine gold medals, Uruguay two and Peru one in South American Rowing Championship

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Brazil won 9 gold medals, Uruguay 2 and Peru 1 on the first day of the South American Rowing Championship being held between Tuesday and Wednesday on the 2,000-meter Olympic track of the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazil, the tournament host, swept the first of the two days of the competition, winning 9 of the 12 gold medals, as well as 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

Uruguay followed with 2 golds and 5 bronzes; Peru is provisionally in third place with 1 gold and 1 silver, followed by Ecuador . . .
